BRIERFIELD: Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident in which a young woman was knocked down and seriously injured.
The 18-year-old was hit by a dark coloured Vauxhall Cavalier saloon, which had a private number plate, in Colne Road, Brierfield, at the junction with Railway Street, at 7.50pm last night.
She was today being treated in Burnley General Hospital.
Police believe there were two vehicles in front of the Cavalier at the traffic lights and are anxious to trace both drivers.
Anybody who saw the accident or saw the Cavalier being driven before the accident should call PC Cockell on 01282 863161.
