ANTI-vandal security measures at Nelson's historic parish church have been agreed by councillors.
The Vicar, the Reverend Peter Mott, was granted consent to install tough polycarbonate glazing over nine windows at the front of the church to prevent hooligans from smashing them after a series of vandal attacks in recent years causing thousands of pounds of damage.
Pendle Council's Colne area committee also gave the go-ahead for a security cage to be erected around steps leading to the boilerhouse at the back of the church to prevent drug users from using the secluded area.
Planning officers were delegated to give approval once the consultation period on the scheme expires in a week's time.
