DETECTIVES have revealed bogus callers struck twice at the same set of flats within minutes.
The callous thieves forced their way into neighbouring properties in Fairhope Court, Bank Top, Blackburn, around 5.30pm.
The thieves called at the flat of an elderly woman in her 70s claiming to be from the water board. When she answered the door two men barged past her and started to search the house before leaving with a brown wallet containing £50.
One man was white, medium height, in his mid 40s, thin face and slightly balding. He was wearing a navy Adidas jacket and trainers. His accomplice was also white and had dark hair.
Minutes later two men called at a neighbouring flat claiming to be water board officials.
When the 76-year-old woman living in the flat answered her front door they barged past her. The two men escaped with £70 afters searching the flat.
A spokesman for Blackburn CID said: "This must have been a very upsetting experience for these two ladies and we would like to hear from anyone who can help us with our inquiries as soon as possible."
