THE GOVERNMENT is reported to be adding to its tough-on-crime credentials with a scheme to stop the payment of state benefits to criminals who fail to comply with probation or community service orders.
If so, they will be backed all the way by the public who, rightly, resent the anti-social living off society.
But this plan will need to be carefully watched - in case it makes offenders turn to even more crime.
