A training body has been singled out for praise for its work in boosting East Lancashire's economy.
In the first annual review of Training and Enterprise Councils in the North West, ELTEC was praised for leading the region for its Investors in People work.
And it has achieved the highest number of NVQs of young people of any TEC area for the third year running.
ELTEC was also praised by the North West Council for Training and Enterprise's review for its involvement with the Competitive Green Challenge, a project designed to provide help small and medium sized firms to improve their environmental practice.
"Collectively the region's TECs are having a dramatic and real impact on the economic success of the North West," said NWCTE director Tony Gill.
"This report clearly demonstrates the importance of TECs in the North West for maintaining the business sector, improving training and preparing people for employment."
