DETECTIVES have warned elderly people not to allow strangers into their home after two teenage boys talked their way into the home of a 73-year-old man and stole £120.
The boys, in their mid-teens, waited for the man outside a local shop before walking him home to Alan Haigh Court sheltered accommodation on the North Valley Estate, Colne.
There they asked to go to the toilet and one of the boys stole the cash from the man's wallet.
The boys are both white. One is 5ft 2in tall and of slim build while the other is of medium build with brown hair and was wearing a blue tracksuit jacket.
The incident happened at 11am yesterday.
Police are linking the theft with an incident on Tuesday in Cleveland Street, Colne, during which two teenage boys called at the house of an elderly woman and asked to use the toilet. While they were in the house a care worker called and the boys left. Nothing was taken.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Colne CID on 01282 863161.
