BARLICK played some of their most incisive football of the season in the opening half of this President's Cup game.
The opening goal arrived after both teams missed a couple of half chances.
Then on 10 minutes, Paul 'Cogsy' Corrigan got the first of his three first-half goals, a mistake by the Tempest defender gave the goal-hungry striker the chance to hit a left foot shot beyond the keeper.
With 24 minutes gone Corrigan got his second - a piledriver through a ruck of players from the edge of the box.
By this time Barlick were dictating the play, and Corrigan's third goal arrived seven minutes before half-time courtesy of Manzar Ditta's looping header after a Thomas Boyd right-wing corner.
Within 10 minutes of the restart, the Tempest keeper was sent off for handling outside the area. From the resulting Ditta free-kick, the unfortunate stand-in keeper saw the ball hit an upright, strike him and rebound into the net.
On 65 minutes Tempest lost a second player for his second bookable offence and their task became impossible.
With the clock ticking away Thomas Boyd got his 15th of the season while on the ground and there was still time for substitute Daniel Terry to open his account for the season after Corrigan's replacement Andrew Bannister hit a blistering shot against the keepers right hand post.
Barnoldswick's man of the match award went to Paul Corrigan.
Team: Dewhurst, Ditta, Naylor, Bancroft, Barrett, McDowell, Roberts, Carling, Mulligan, Corrigan, Boyd. Subs: Terry, Holt, and Bannister.
On Saturday, Barnoldswick entertain Wigan College at the West Close ground (kick-off 3pm).
