lROMANTIC Nic Barker gave his girlfriend a Valentine to remember by walking her down the aisle just 12 hours after proposing.
Nicola Stott said "I will" when Nic popped the question over a candlelit dinner with friends at the Wellspring's Inn, Nick o' Pendle, on Friday night.
But little did she realise that she would be saying, "I do," the very next day!
The couple, of Abbot's Walk, Clitheroe, were married at the town's register office with their son, five-year-old Lewis, in attendance.
The witnesses were the bridegroom's brother, Martin Barker, and the bride's friend, Tracey Blain, who had been in on the secret.
Nicola said: "We had just finished eating and a bouquet of red roses arrived. As I leant over to kiss Nic, he placed a blue box and an envelope on the table. It was a wedding ring and appointment card for the register office - the next day! I just couldn't take it all in."
Nicola, who gave birth to twins Charlie and Kate 12 weeks ago, was married in a black velvet evening gown.
"I couldn't sleep all night for thinking what to wear. The black velvet dress was the only thing that fitted. Nic had even organised my bouquet," she said.
A champagne reception followed at the Old Stone House in Mitton, before flying visits to family and friends to break the news.
Romantic Nic said he hadn't been the slightest bit nervous that Nicola would turn him down. Now Nicola reckons she has captured the heart of the most romantic man in East Lancashire.
