SINGERS of all ages are expected to join a choir's 50th birthday celebrations.
Nelson Civic Choirs - the first choir has now grown into three - will begin the golden anniversary year with an open evening at Park High School, Colne, on Friday, February 26.
The evening will include performances of two songs that the original Nelson Municipal Children's Choir sang at their first concert in February 1949.
Past members are being invited to come and sing Westering Home and the Skye Boat Song.
Many families are involved in the three choirs - primaries, juniors and ladies - and founder Ted Parr is still the director.
A birthday party and celebration concert are being organised for June, and plans for the anniversary also include a new CD and cassette, a display of choir material, a history booklet and a choir walk.
