DURING this current triangular series in which England are competing, one of the outstanding successes of the tour has been the performances of Neil Fairbrother. He has shown calm, foresight and resilience in sometimes tense situations.
The point made is, he has always had the temperament and ability during his career.
But all we have heard from the top brass: "He is a good player for one day games, but not for the longer five days Tests."
I contend he has always had the potential to play at any level and take any attack apart. Sure he has had lean spells, but how many players have not?
How many players have England persevered with despite abysmal form? You can't have talent one day then lose it the following day.
