WE ARE writing in response to the letter from Eddie Brandon (February 9) regarding the transfer request from Tim Flowers
If Tim's transfer request caused Mr Brandon more joy than the terrific 3-1 victory over Aston Villa and the return of Chris Sutton, then he is the sort of 'so called' supporter that is not needed at our club. We talk of players' loyalty to clubs, but what about fans' loyalty to the players?
Tim Flowers was an integral part of our championship-winning team and has given his heart and soul in every game since. The disappointment that he must be feeling at his failure to hold down a permanent place in the team is understandable.
Yet this did not stop Tim giving 100 per cent when he was called on against Sunderland to take the place of the injured John Filan.
Despite some people's delusions to the contrary, it is necessary to have two first class goalkeepers in the squad and so everything possible should be done to ensure Tim Flowers stays at Ewood Park.
