MR EDDIE Brandon (Sports Letters, February 9), the fantastically funny man whose sarcasm often appears on this page, really cracks me up -unfortunately, not because it is funny and entertaining, but because of his fickle and misinformed opinion.
I agree that at the moment John Filan deserves his place in the Rovers team, but I can also see Tim Flowers' point of view and his willingness to return to the international scene.
Mr Brandon made it seem as if Flowers was some sort of David James instead of the reliable, and sometimes world-class performer he has been for Rovers over the years.
Maybe Mr Brandon was one of those so-called supporters who gave plenty of stick to Kevin Davies at the Tottenham game. For the first time in my life I was ashamed to be a Blackburn Ender.
People wanted him to chase 60 yards after a ball that was going to run out of play. This would have left him out of position.
Just how little do these people know about football? The lad had only been back in training for two days and they expect miracles.
Perhaps they saw too much of Shearer in his prime and no longer live in the real world.
If Kevin can get a proper pre-season under his belt and a decent run of games, then we may just see the best of his undoubted talent.
G WHITE (Mr), Lytham Road, Blackburn.
