GARY Speed clearly hadn't lost his sense of humour as he hobbled out of St James's Park on Sunday night.
Even though he was relieved to discover he was not seriously injured after a second-half clash with his own keeper, Speed's pain was obvious, prompting Welsh international team-mate Nathan Blake to offer: "Come on mate, I'll carry you to your car."
The reply came in a flash - "I should think so too, I've carried you often enough for Wales!"
