NELSON: A young mum who tried to smuggle drugs to her boyfriend in custody, has been jailed for 42 days.
Georgina Agnes White, 25, hid five Temazepam tablets in a packet of sweets to take to Paul Ashworth at Colne police station, Burnley magistrates heard.
White, a mother-of-two, of Hargreaves Street, Nelson, admitted possessing a class "C" controlled drug with intent to supply, possessing the drug and two counts of failing to surrender to custody. The bench was told she offended while on probation.
Geoff Ireland, defending, said: "Mr Ashworth was having difficulty sleeping and the defendant very foolishly tried to take in the tablets to help him get a decent night's sleep."
