THE idea of stores having a 'creche' for men, complete armchairs and with TVs tuned to sport, was actually advocated by a visionary columnist of this newspaper years ago.
But Tesco's planning this facility to spare the blokes the ordeal of being dragged round the supermarket by the missus is only a small step in the right direction.
What's needed is a ban on men being admitted to such places. For not only are they bored rigid following in their better half's wake around the aisles, left to do it themselves they would get half the week's buying in completely wrong and would forget the other half.
But why's that? Because it's not a man's job in the first place - like the ironing, it's a woman's.
If only the girls would realise this - and leave the poor blokes at home watching soccer on the telly - there would be no need for creches for grown ups and no rows or sulks either.
