TWO men who tried to get free credits on a club gaming machine were filmed on a security camera.
And it was only when they were interviewed for a third time by the police and shown the video recording that Kevin Dawson and Keith Jukes admitted attempted theft from Highfield Working Men's Club.
Dawson, 29, of Progress Street, Darwen, and Jukes, 27, of Alpha Street, Darwen, were each granted conditional discharges for 12 months by Blackburn magistrates and ordered to pay £54 costs.
Stephen Parker, defending, said Dawson and Jukes were the only losers.
"They are both in full-time employment and this offence is totally out of character," said Mr Parker.
"They say that the door was slightly ajar and they looked inside to see if they could clock up some free credits. The video shows they played the machine for a considerable time and had no doubt put a great deal of money into it. There is no claim for compensation and I would say that these two are the only losers."
