MY youngest-ever correspondent has dropped a line in the hope that someone can provide details concerning his heroic great-grandad.
The intriguingly-named Clayton Clay, aged seven, wonders if any veteran Suttoners can recall his forebear, John Fairclough, who was awarded the Albert Medal in India.
Clayton, from St Helens, explains that in tackling a history project on his late great-grandad he has discovered that he was born in Sutton Road in 1900 and moved into Junction Lane in 1931.
The problem is that he has no photos from that era of either of those locations. "I don't know what it was like to live there in those days," says Clayton, "and if any of your readers could help me I would be very grateful."
IF anyone could put Clayton in the picture, they could write to him at 8 Ayrshire Gardens, The Shires, St Helens WA10 3ST; or ring him on St Helens 757971.
