LEIGH Euro MP Terry Wynn has taken the problem of phoney timeshare touts to the European Parliament.
He has warned local holidaymakers that they are still making illegal claims and using improper methods in southern Europe.
But under strong pressure from the European Union, Spain has now signed the Timeshare Directive which will regulate the timeshare industry.
He said: "I receive many complaints from Leigh area holidaymakers that they are still pounced on by bogus timeshare agents at Spanish, Italian and Greek resorts.
" I will press for action under the Consumer Credit legislation against anyone who preys on British visitors, and I hope that any instances will be brought to the attention of both the Timeshare Council and local MEPs at once."
Reputable timeshare firms are bringing legal action against touts who claim to be linked to them. All information is valuable in stopping these scams.
