LOCAL agencies have come together in a bid to redeploy the 350 workers who face redundancy at Alstom's Preston site.
Preston Borough Council, the Central Lancashire Development Agency, LAWTEC, Preston Job Centre and Enterprise plc hope to put together a package of support to help the redundant employees find work.
Brian Jones, Alstom Preston's managing director, said: "We hope to work closely with local agencies in a positive manner to secure the future of not only those workers who remain at the site but those who leave also."
Preston council leader Peter Rankin said: "I am hoping that through bringing together these key local agencies we will be able to provide positive, practical help to the people who need it, seeking to retain these skilled workers in the local economy."
A further meeting will take place at Alstom on February 24 to clarify potential local agency support.
