LOWERHOUSE CC have signed South African Martin van Jaarsveld after Matthew Mott announced a few weeks ago that he was unable to return to the club.
Van Jaarsveld, 24, who plays for Northern Transvaal is a right handed batsman, right arm off spin bowler and noted fielder.
In 1997-98 He was the third highest run scorer in South African cricket with 1,129 runs. In 1996 and 1997 van Jaarsveld was professional for Delph in the Saddleworth League scoring 3,400 runs and taking 110 wickets helping the club to league and cup success. In 1998 he did not return to the UK because of selection for the South African A Tour to Sri Lanka.
