WIND FARMS, it appears, are being planned for sites around Ramsbottom - on Harden and Holcombe moors.
Objectors are already drawing up plans to have these developments stopped.
Their reasons are: The appearance and height of the turbines and disruption of site and of wildlife.
Existing windfarms, such as that at Cliviger, may be thought of as an eyesore by people living nearby.
But having said that, let us consider the thousands of others residing near to mile after mile of pylons and power lines, rusting gasometers, etc, without any redress.
Then compare these monstrosities with wind turbines - which many would think of as acceptable structures.
Where windfarms are built the wildlife would, as in all such cases, adjust to the new environment.
The end product is preferable to a nuclear power station with all its threatening potential consequences.
Windfarms are safe, clean, virtually silent and will help supply necessary power where needed.
