RUNNERS from King Edward VII School, Lytham, raced to individual and team gold medals at the Fylde Schools' Cross Country championships.
Nick Hamilton in fourth place led Lytham to a bronze medal in the junior race and Mark Brierley recorded a personal best to finish third in the Year 8 race.
King Edward's took the gold medal in the Year 9 competition, held in increasingly muddy conditions at Stanley Park, Blackpool.
Jon Fenech ran superbly to take silver and was excellently supported by Wesley Green, Matthew Appleby, Harry Gregory and Rob Haines.
In the final race Andrew Jones raced away from the field to take gold to retain his title.
Andrew led his injury-hit team to a creditable bronze medal with Daniel Glynn and Mike Kitchen lending strong support.
Coach Andrew Yelland praised the commitment of his runners who look forward now to the Northern Schools Race in Manchester next month.
