Clock Face Miners 6 Bank Quay Bulls 13 CLOCK lost ground in the title race to their Warrington rivals after this defeat
Both teams started briskly in the heavy conditions, and defences on both sides were severely tested but held firm, and so it was left to penalty goals to put some points on the board.
Bank Quay opened their account first, then Clock levelled the score with a penalty by Andy Hurst, and another Hurst two-pointer edged Clock in front .
And Hurst's trusty boot increased Clock's lead 10 minutes into the second half, and that's how it was until the last quarter of the game when the Bulls scrum-half Andy Stevens broke through the Clock defence and raced to the line giving Bank Quay their first try.
The Bulls were now full of confidence and went in front with a drop goal from Stevens, then minutes later they effectively put the game out of Clock reach, when a neat low cross field kick saw the ball end up behind the Clock posts, and centre Lee Westwood won the race to it, to score giving Williams an easy conversion
The Axess Communications man of the match award went to David Hamilton with Steve Ludden and Dean Barber also worthy of merit.
