Hull Dockers 50 Haresfinch 1 FINCH were beaten by the sheer pace of the National Conference Division Two side.
But it was a wholehearted and committed performance by the losers which didn't reflect in the final score. For the first 20 minutes it was finely balanced with Eddie Tinsley creating havoc in the Dockers' defence.
But the Hull side opened the scoring when their big second row forced his way over for a try but Finch kept the pressure on and player coach Billy Platt slotted over a drop goal.
The pace of the game began to tell on Finch and the Dockers used their superior speed to score four more tries to make it 24-1 at the break.
After the interval any hopes Finch may have had of a comeback had been dashed when they lost power-house Eddie Tinsley, Billy Platt, Shaun Kilgannon and centre Lee Simmons with injuries and the Dockers took advantage to score five more tires. One of the few bright spots for Finch was the form of Anthony Seabrook who seemed to be involved in everything. There were also gritty performance from captain and full-back Andy Hanley, Paul Horsley, Stuart Simmons and super sub, seventeen year old Robbie Broughton. Anthony Seabrook was named BARLA man of the match and also Franco's Wholesale Ltd man of the match.
