Reading 10 Liverpool St Helens 31 DURING the last few weeks there has been a huge transformation at Liverpool St Helens with greater confidence and self belief among the players.
New members of the squad and returns from injury have brought back fighting spirit. The defence is courageous and the attack adventurous. On a beautiful day in excellent conditions on Saturday all their hard work paid off with a convincing 31-10 victory.
Reading started the strongest and their large pack seemed to take control as they scored the first try of the game after just 60 seconds. LSH heads didn't drop and they started to fight back, a good jinking run by Neil Brooks led to a try near the posts which was converted by Chris Glynn.
Further tries by Hitchin and Glynn with two converted penalties gave LSH a deserved half-time advantage of 23-5.
In the second half the Reading pack started to put the pressure on but LSH were strong in defence. Reading did manage to grab a try but another Hitchin score and a penalty from Glynn led to a final result of 31-10.
This Saturday LSH travel to Nottingham.
