THE 1999 rally season starts this weekend with the first round of the local RSM Championship at the North West Stages.
Only a handful of the Bay's crews are contesting the event, with most using next weekend's Bay Stages at Flookburgh as a shakedown for the first forest rally, the Malcom Wilson on March 6. Championship winner already this year, Phil Burton from Bare, will be out on the Cockermouth based Malcolm Wilson Rally as will Carnforth's Steve Joel who is hoping to put up some good times on his first crack at the nearest event in his RSJ Escort Mk 2. Uncle Ian Joel also has an entry in his Escort Cosworth and is hoping to beat the jinx that usually gets to him on this event with his highest finish being third in several years of trying.
Anyone wanting to help out on the event can contact any Morecambe Car Club member or Steve Dunning on 015396 24418.
