Thatto Heath 34 Distington 6 HEATH turned on the style to cruise through to the fourth round of the BARLA National Cup.
Full-back, Wayne Jackman, kicked Heath into a two point lead after 12 minutes following a penalty for offside 40 yards out.
Midway through the first half Heath's stand-off, Barry Ashall put loose-forward, Anthony Marsh, through the gap, only to see him pulled down just short of the line. The ball then flashed across the line from left to right for Jimmy Waterworth to send Darren Blanchfield 10 powering over. Jackman tagged on the two points.
Minutes later, Distington opened their account after conning the referee into giving a penalty straight in front of Heath's posts. Stand-off, Carl Hewer, kicked the easy two pointer.
In the 29th minute, Distington cracked Heath's defence when Mark Linford to burst through to score in the corner.
Just before half time the ball then travelled over to the right wing with Southward giving a neat short pass to Blanchfield who put Marsh through to dive over in the corner. Heath piled on the pressure from the restart and hooker, Nigel Morris sent Blanchfield over to the right of the posts. Jackman converted.
It was all very much one-way-traffic from this point with the men from Workington turning over the little possession that they had due to the fierce home defence.
Five minutes into the second half, substitute wingman, Phil Glover, picked up a loose ball 40 yards out on the left wing and scooted down the touch line to dive over in the corner.
Heath added to their lead when Ashall picked up ae loose ball and ran 20 yards, beating two men well. He then passed to flyer Neil Prescott who ran crossfield from the right wing jinking in and out of the covering defence to put scrum-half, Chris Rylatt, through. Jackman was on target again with the conversion.
Heath finished off the scoring just before full-time when Ashall flicked the ball out to Morris who put Glover in for his second in the corner. Jackman kicked a magnificent touch line conversion to make the final score 34-6.
