AFTER last week's heroic victory at Whitehaven, Carnforth were given a taste of their own medicine as they allowed Colne to snatch a late win.
In the first half it was the visitors who had the more possession and should have scored but for gallant defending. The half ended goalless.
The second period was much more entertaining. Carnforth took the lead early in the half when the ball came out to in-form Holden. He took play past two defenders before releasing Parkinson for a try which the scorer then converted himself.
Minutes later, Holden was again the inspiration behind Carnforth's second try. His pace and vision took him through and he unselfishly passed to winger David Hones to score in the corner.
Colne hit back with two tries to put them to within touching distance of Carnforth despite the home side hitting home another penalty.
The home side held on and held on as Colne pinned them to their line but inevitably the heavier Colne pack managed to force the ball the over the line. Colne had come back from the dead to win just like Carnforth had down the week before.
