Sports hall athletics was originally founded by George Bunner of Frodsham Harriers in 1976 introducing children to the joy of athletics within the sportshall environment. This association gives young people who are keen to try athletics the opportunity to practice track and field events in a safe and warm environment.
A few years after sports hall athletics was introduced in Frodsham, it spread sufficiently to organise the first Sports Hall Athletics Event, this took place at Sutton Leisure Centre in 1979.
This sport has had a direct influence on young people, their families and sports development because it gives primary school athlete the the first step towards County and National honours, and for others to represent their schools.
