WORK to expand Bury's network of cycle lanes begins in the spring.
April 1 has been earmarked for the introduction of the green paths on Manchester Road between Parkhills Road and Bury Town Hall in Knowsley Street.
The new cycling facilities will link Bury town centre with existing cycle lane schemes on Manchester Road and Radcliffe Road.
The mandatory cycle lanes will be operative Monday to Saturday between 7.30am-9.30am and 3pm-6.30pm.
A total of £10,000 will be spent on the latest cycle lane scheme which is designed to assist existing cyclists and encourage more people to travel to the town centre on their bikes.
