SPORTING superstars are giving a confidence boost to a boy involved in racism allegations.
Nine-year-old Elliott Stephens met Manchester United's Dwight Yorke on Tuesday, February 16, and next week he will travel to Sheffield to meet boxer Prince Naseem.
Elliott was withdrawn from Radcliffe County Junior School by his mother, who claimed he was being victimised. Miss Elaine Ramsay, 33, said youngsters had hijacked an anti-racist song sung in assemblies to taunt her son.
At the moment Elliott, of Westminster Avenue, Radcliffe, does not attend school.
His mother said: "I am hoping a place can be found for him at Cams Lane, which is a school close by. It is full at the moment, but a review will be held in March, taking into account his circumstances."
In the meantime Bury Council has arranged for Elliott to receive private tuition for two days a week.
Miss Ramsay said: "Meeting Dwight Yorke has given Elliott a real boost. Dwight had read about what had happened and invited him down to Manchester United's training ground for a private chat."
