A YOUNG man was left needing dental treatment after being attacked on his way home from a night out.
The 22-year-old victim was set upon as he walked along Duke Street towards the town centre between 2 and 2.30am on Saturday, February 13.
After spending the evening at a night club the victim had called in to a kebab shop in Duke Street. As he was standing in the queue, two men in front of him turned around and one challenged him to an arm-wrestling contest for a £20 stake. He declined and the pair left the shop.
Shortly afterwards the victim also left and as he headed up Duke Street, the pair jumped out at him and began punching him repeatedly in the face. He finally managed to escape and the attackers ran off in the opposite direction.
One of the attackers is described as aged between 19 and 22 years and 6ft to 6ft 6in tall with short, scruffy dark-brown hair. He wore blue jeans, a creased top and what appeared to be workmen's boots. The other was about aged 22 years, between 5ft 8ins and 6ft tall and stocky with short, cropped dark-brown hair. He wore a designer blue shirt and black jeans.
