MEDICAL experts are to investigate whether a 29-year-old Blackburn man's death could be linked to sudden infant death syndrome.
Peter Byrom was found dead at his home in Calgary Avenue, Lammack, on Wednesday morning.
An inquest heard he returned from a cycle ride on Tuesday afternoon and went to bed after telling his mother, Margaret, that he felt unwell.
He said he had flu symptoms and was going to sleep them off but when his mother went to his room the next morning she found him dead.
Coroner Andre Rebello said Dr William Lawler 's post-mortem examination had not revealed any obvious cause of death.
"Dr Lawler is going to carry out special tests to see if he can find anything that will give us a clue as to the cause of death," said Mr Rebello.
"We are aware of sudden infant death syndrome which can occur in adults as well."
Mr Byrom recently returned from a six month tour of America, New Zealand, Australia and India. The inquest was adjourned until May 14.
