A COMPANY boss wants a public entertainment licence for the former Burnley County Court building.
John Turkington, a major shareholder with Burnley FC, runs bakery machine manufacturers J F Turkington Ltd, with premises on the Widow Hill Road industrial estate.
He has applied to tomorrow's Burnley Council licensing sub-committee for a music and dancing licence to 2am for the former county court building on Bankhouse Street.
The building has been empty for nearly ten years after the county court business was transferred to Burnley Crown Court building on Queen's Lancashire Way.
A letter of objection from the solicitors for Northern Leisure Plc, which runs Mean Cat Daddies and Genesis, argues there is no need for a public entertainment's licence until 2am in respect of these premises.
