THE National Year of Reading's monthly theme for February is "Search and read the Internet."
Our NIE project is continuing to support the aims by inviting teachers to participate in free placement days focusing on our website at our head office in Blackburn.
We have linked up with the Teacher Placement Service at East Lancs Education Business Partnerships, who are offering funding towards the cost of supply cover for schools wishing to release teachers to take part in either of the two placement days in April. In addition to gaining an insight into the design and user potential of our extensive website, the days will give teachers ideas for designing school websites and will offer the opportunity for pupils to review suitable websites for publication in our newspaper.
Teachers in all schools in East Lancashire will receive invitations to register places for the placement days of April 20 for primary schools and April 22 for secondaries; teachers in special schools can attend on either date.
Schools should watch out for invitations in the post this week and make sure that registration slips are retumed as soon as possible.
