VILLAGE school pupils jumped at the chance to become mini-journalists.
The youngsters at Sabden County Primary School have already made extensive use of NIE material in class.
They have now been pounding their keyboards to give a flavour of exciting activities in their village school.
Amy MacEwan, in year 5, focused on a photography project: "We are very lucky at our school to have a digital camera, and many of us have now become keen photographers.
"Pictures from the camera can be downloaded onto our computer and we can print them out onto any type of page.
"Our head teacher Mrs Dundon had the idea of making personalised calendars for all of our parents by allowing every pupil in our class to pose for a photograph taken by a classmate. "We were allowed to go anywhere in the school or grounds to take them and everybody decided how they wanted to be shown, while the other person was the photographer.
"Leah Campbell took my picture and I wanted to include some of the school trees. When we scanned the pictures onto the calendars they looked very effective and everyone was proud when we took them home."
If you are an East Lancs student or pupil and fancy becoming another Clark Kent or Lois Lane, why not send in a report of something happening in your school or area, or on something you feel stongly about, to our NIE column. And remember that this section of the paper is held on our website for a week, so your words will go around the world.
