A MAN said to be "high" from smoking cannabis was seen walking home late at night with a child's pink bike under his arm.
Mark Andrew Scott, 30, of Irvine Place, Blackburn, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Blackburn magistrates to theft of the bike and possession of cannabis. He was fined a total of £50 with £50 costs.
Julian Peers, defending, said Scott had been smoking cannabis all day to help with a medical problem. "He would not have taken the bike if he had not been high," said Mr Peers.
"The bike just appeared to be lying there abandoned. There was nobody around so he decided to take it home and do it up to give to his ten year old son."
