BURNLEY boss Stan Ternent made the trip to Coventry last night and was impressed by the club's reserve side as they collected a deserved point from Pontin's League First Division leaders Coventry.

Although Neil Moore and Glen Little had a run out for an hour, it was largely an inexperienced Burnley side against a Coventry line-up which included seven players who have appeared in the Premiership.

But Burnley could even have won the game, Matt Heywood hitting a post and having another effort cleared off the line.

There was also a chance for Tony Shandran in the second half as Burnley created the better opportunities.

Coventry were on top before the break but couldn't break down Burnley, who then turned the tables.

Little was very prominent before, as planned, he and Moore were substituted.

"It was a very good performance and a welcome point for us," said coach Terry Pashley. "They put out a strong side but we matched them, even though we finished with a lot of youngsters in the team."
