A FILM of life in Burnley over the last 100 years is being planned by Burnley Camcorder Group.

The film to be released for the new millennium will be produced to coincide with a book being prepared by Towneley Hall.

Camcorder Group chairman David Parker said they were looking for help from local people who had memories of life in the town over the decades.

He said: "We would like to hear from people who worked at Massey's Brewery, Queen Street mill or in the pits, or other places which no longer exist. We could film the individuals talking about their experiences or make an audio tape to go alongside other film.'' What the group are looking for especially is any film footage of events in Burnley over the years.

Mr Parker said: "Our first thoughts were were of the historic films created by the late Sam Hannah.

"He was a member of the old Burnley Cine Club but his unique film archives have been sold commercially and are subject to copyright.''

Burnley Camcorder group has about 30 members and meets every Thursday at Burnley Central Methodist Church at 7.30pm. Anyone wanting to find out more about the group is welcome to attend.

Members create a film record of major events in the town and were also commissioned to produce an anniversary film by the Bronte Society.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Mr Parker on 01282 433672.
