YOUNGSTERS who have dedicated many hours to self-improvement and helping others are due to receive their reward tonight.
More than 150 Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme winners will gain recognition for their efforts at a ceremony in Pleckgate High School.
Sixteen youngsters will receive the top gold award with 22 winning silver and 123 receiving bronze.
Nine youngsters will be presented with basic expedition leadership certificates.
The awards will be presented by Vice Admiral Michael Gretton, director of the award scheme.
He will be assisted by Coun Bill Taylor, chairman of Blackburn with Darwen Council's education and training committee.
Coun Taylor said: "The education and training department strongly supports the development of the award and we encourage participation not only in schools and formal educational establishments but by also providing access to other groups of young people."
