FORMER Winsford United boss Dalton Steele has been appointed as the new manager of Chorley.
And in a dramatic turn of events he has already signed SEVEN players from his old club in time for Saturday's home game with Gateshead.
Chorley Director of Football Brian Pilkington remained tight-lipped today about any appointment as the club were expecting to make an announcement tomorrow.
But the Lancashire Evening Telegraph can exclusively reveal Steele was at Victory Park last night tying up deals with a number of Winsford United's current first team squad.
And UniBond League registrations secretary Phil Bradley confirmed today the Magpies have snapped up United's two leading scorers Winfield Steele and Steve Shaughnessey, influential midfielders Colin Lambert and Steve Aspinall, as well as Eddie Hussin, Gary Thomas and Matthew Harmer.
Darren Heesom is also expected to follow suit and Steele is negotiating the cash signing of Gary Talbot.
A host of top names applied for the post in the wake of Bryan Griffiths' resignation three weeks ago.
But Steele quickly emerged as the leading candidate after resigning as manager at Winsford last week and beat off a strong challenge from Morecambe assistant Tony Hesketh.
