THREE members of Darwen SC went into the history books when the inaugural Masters Meet was hosted by Rotherham Metro.

The event was heavily oversubscribed and some local entries were even returned, but setting her sights high was Karen Jones who moved up to the 40 to 44 years age group.

She was rewarded with victories in the 200m freestyle and the 100m butterfly and also collected silver in two events and was placed third in one other.

Still a relative novice in Masters events, Christine Roberts (45-49 years) just failed to finish in top spot and had to settle for three silvers and one bronze, while Graham Croxson's highest place was third in the 50m freestyle in age group 50 to 54 years. He was fifth in the 100m freestyle.
