RESIDENTS in Edgworth look set to have won their battle to prevent Turton Football Club building a new car park near their Thomasson Fold headquarters.
Planning experts at Blackburn with Darwen Council will urge councillors to reject the project when they meet at Blackburn Town Hall tonight at 7pm.
Householders have put together an 81-signature petition saying they do not want to have cars passing their homes throughout the week and at weekends to get to the new car park.
North Turton Parish Council has also expressed its reservations about the project.
Planning experts say one of the main reasons for rejecting the project is the fact that the proposed car park would be built on designated green belt land.
