EUROPE'S top award winning golfer is backing a campaign to encourage thousands of new golfers to swing into action and take up the game this year in response to free lessons for beginners by PGA professionals from April 10 to 18.
Colin Montgomerie has given the thumbs-up to British Aerospace National Golf Week which really looks set to take off and attract new players of all ages to the game, with the emphasis on fun for all.
The campaign is being launched at GolfExpo, Europe's largest golf exhibition which made its debut to the public on Sunday, February 21 at the NEC, Birmingham.
Last year's campaign, the first of a three-year £300,000 promotion under the sponsorship wing of British Aerospace and a Sportsmatch award, involved more than 400 facilities throughout the UK and generated more than 22,500 new golfers.
Colin Montgomerie said: "No-one is ever too old or too young to start the game.
"The right time is NOW and the best way to learn is through a PGA professional.
"British Aerospace National Golf Week brings a whole new meaning to the game and provides the ideal opportunity for newcomers to give golf a go."
