BAMBER Bridge go into this weekend's game against Winsford United sitting on top of the UniBond Premier League - and determined to stay there.
Brig went clear at the top after collecting a point during a dramatic match away at Runcorn on Tuesday night on top of a tight 3-2 victory against Frickley at Irongate last weekend.
And manager Tony Greenwood will be looking for a repeat of last Saturday's excellent home form when they welcome manager-less Winsford to Irongate on Saturday afternoon.
But in terms of form, it's their away record which has been impressing most people recently - they haven't been beaten away from home since September, giving much credence to the old saying that leagues are often won away from home.
Greenwood said: "We are a clever side away from home because we keep it tight and don't go chasing for an early goal.
"We are a sensible side and a patient one as well and that has paid dividends for us this season."
But it's at home where the opposing teams seem to get the advantage and Brig will have to be careful on Saturday against Winsford, who are currently in fifth place.
A win is essential if Brig want to stay on top - especially as second place Altrincham have four games in hand over the Irongate outfit.
