THE word on the political grapevine is that the MBIs will be voting against the council's budget this year. It seems they are against Labour's plans to spend more on investing in the area for the benefit of us all. Apparently the MBIs intend to introduce a new budget if they win the May elections. Unfortunately they are not going to tell us what will be in that budget. Clearly they want to offer a surprise.

What a contemptible bunch the MBIs are! They spend all their time moaning and they oppose everything but they never put forward any ideas of their own.

They cannot face the real truth. They claim they were formed to revitalise Morecambe. In reality they have done nothing. The measures which are slowly transforming Morecambe have all been introduced by the first ever Labour administration on our local council. That administration has invested millions in Morecambe. Throughout their brief history the MBIs have scoffed at the real efforts to revitalise our fine resort. They claimed that visitors would not come back, that regeneration of Morecambe centre would not take place; that there would never be a new cinema; that the council would never achieve anything - wrong on all counts.
