MAY I, through your letters page, express, on behalf of my family and I, our sincere thanks to Dave Watts MP for all the help and assistance he has given us since the death of our son John (Gulf veteran R.E.M.E) in May, 1996.
From the moment of contact with Dave in January, 1996 and up to the present day, he has been a constant source of assistance, as well as making himself available at all times whether in St Helens or London on Parliamentary duty.
I do not need to go into detail regarding his level of assistance on a personal basis, it is suffice to say that he was always there for my family and I, either at his local office, my house or by telephone. His assistance was aided by the sterling efforts of the staff at the local office.
When I approached him as a constituent with a problem he acted promptly and with positive action, which is what one expects from their local MP. It was a case of tea and sympathy, his actions and endeavours went beyond my expectations.
I cannot begin to repay him for what he has done, and continues to do, for my family and I, but what I can do, through your letters page, is to let the people of St Helens whom Dave represents know that, in my opinion, they have in him an excellent and caring MP who will do his utmost for them both collectively and individually.
I have no fears expressing these views as I know they are true. Once again, Dave, thank-you.
John Callaghan snr., Hawes Ave, Carr Mill.
