LEYLAND'S Alexander Simm has joined the world's elite as a Royal Marine Commando after being passed out from the Commando training Centre in Devon.
Alexander, 18, was one of just five of the original 30 young men to start the tough course in June last year.
The gruelling military instruction, which was conducted on Dartmoor, has inspired Alex to pursue specialisation in mountain and arctic training.
Alex can trace his family origins through The Lord Lovats (The Simmie) and one of his most notable predecessors is Brigadier Lord Lovat, WWII Commando Leader.
He joined the Leyland detachment of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment Army Cadets in 1993.
