AN ANTI-fouling vigilante is making sure residents in a Leyland village know where the dog muck grot-spots are - by placing large signs on lamp posts.
The mystery person has taken to placing signs close to where dog dirt has been seen, warning innocent pedestrians about the dangers which lie ahead.
The signs, which have appeared on Radburn Brow, Clayton-le-Woods, said: 'Warning: Dirty Dog'.
But, ironically, instead of helping people dodge the dirt, they've been so occupied reading the signs, they end up walking into it!
The 'scene of the crime' is just yards away from a nearby park, where dog dirt bins have been installed to keep the pavement excrement-free.
Local councillor Simon Jones said: "Residents are clearly annoyed by what is happening and you can't blame them.
"A lot of effort has gone into providing dog bins in Clayton-le-Woods but, unfortunately, there will always be someone who ignores them."
Radburn Brow is a popular dog-walking route in the evening, with scores of people walking from local estates to the Carr Brook park.
Coun Jones added: "People use a set route to walk the dog and the dog becomes accustomed to going to the toilet in the same place.
"Residents are annoyed to the point that they have decided to put these signs up. And who can blame them?"
