THE rumpus over the advertisement by Pearl Assurance, which appears to degrade the status of once-famous Accrington Stanley (LET, February 20) should not dishearten the fans of the club.
There is an old saying: "Any publicity is good publicity."
Whether anything was intended is left to the club and the individual.
I think the best way to answer the unflattering ad is for them to start winning and climb the table.
We used to travel near and far and it seemed the only way the town of Accrington was brought into conversation was through the football team.
Now, people just ask us what happened to the club.
